The icon, painted on a golden background was donated by Monsignor Giovan Battista de Lagni , archbishop of Rossano from 1493 to 1505. The coat of arms is visible at the bottom of the painting. On the bottom there is a signature, which is not clear, attributed to the painter Andreas Pavias.
