The canvas represents in six panel the popular legend of the Achiropita. The artwork was commissioned by Mons. Camaldari, archbishop of Rossano from 1762 to 1778, and was restored by Mons. Marsiglia, archbishop from 1931 to 1948 .  Both coat of arms appear in lower central part of the canvas.
