The precious ring is attributed to the rossanese-born saint Nilo, but as known the saint lived between the X and the XI century, while the ring dates XIII century. The ring comes from the monastery of Santa Maria del Patire and probably it belonged to one of the abbots called either Nilo or Nifo, that used the ring as a seal. A micro sculpture of the Mother of God Odigitria can be seen with the greek writing ‘ MP ‘ standing for mother.
